When you donate to Reef Restoration Foundation, you invest directly into our mission, which manifests in our signature Resilience & Recovery program.

Your donation goes a long way and is fully tax deductible in Australia.

Individual Donors

Anyone can donate right here on our website through Donorbox! Just choose an amount and whether it’s a once-off or monthly donation.

You can join our Care for a Coral or Build a Coral Branch features, which generate a Certificate of Appreciation that make great gifts for friends or family. Donors will receive a certificate with your name on it that can be downloaded and printed. Certificates are electronically stamped with the name of the receiver. If you are buying it as a gift for someone, please use their name in this field at the checkout.

Donors will receive a subscription to the quarterly newsletter to follow our progress. We are always forming new partnerships to forge a brighter future for the Great Barrier Reef, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Business Donors

Most business donors to Reef Restoration Foundation favour a ‘percentage-of-sales’ arrangement where they nominate the percentage, and they can budget for the donations based on sales forecasts. The arrangement can be ongoing or for a specified period, such as a sales campaign; or a once-off. That’s up to you.

Please note that the Australian Tax Office defines a donation to a charity as an investment in the mission of that organisation with no expectation of anything in return. However, when the charity is a Deductible Gift Recipient, the donation is tax deductible in Australia.

Reef Restoration Foundation provides business donors with our suite of logo files, and the donor controls how they promote the arrangement to their market. However, Reef Restoration Foundation cannot provide that service or the ATO would deem it to be sponsorship, which could have negative implications for the business donor in the event of a tax audit.

We add the business donor’s contact details to our newsletter mailing list, so they are updated on the progress of our Resilience & Recovery program.

US based donors can secure tax deductibility by donating via Bright Funds.

Business Sponsors

Reef Restoration Foundation provides sponsors exposure and endorsement dependent upon the level of sponsorship sought. Sponsorship is priced for serious supporters of our mission who seek recognition for their partnership through brand association.

Please note that the Australian Tax Office defines a sponsorship as being when a business receives something of value in return for the sponsorship, so the sponsorship payment is not a gift. This includes advertising, signage, naming rights or some other type of benefit or value. Such a payment to a charity is not tax deductible, irrespective of the charity being a Deductible Gift Recipient, and it attracts Goods & Services Tax in Australia.

The impact for the resilience and recovery of the Great Barrier Reef from sponsorship is measured by the number of additional fertilised larvae produced from our coral nurseries. Every fertilised larva produced in our Resilience & Recovery program is additional to that which occurs naturally.

Based on research noting that, on average, a spawning coral colony produces millions of egg-and-sperm bundles, of which more than 100,000 on average fertilise to become coral larvae. As our Resilience & Recovery program matures, we will assemble our own data and update these figures accordingly.
